Sites

3.9.7

A site represents a building or physical location. Sites provide an organizational layer for grouping points and filtering views.

Creating Sites

Create sites from the Sites page. Each site can include:

  • Name and address
  • Timezone (IANA format, e.g., America/New_York)
  • Area (square feet or square meters)
  • Year built
  • Coordinates (latitude/longitude)
  • Image of the building

If address lookup is available, the timezone and coordinates are populated automatically from the address.

Assigning Points to Sites

Points receive a site reference (siteRef attribute in the model layer) in one of two ways:

Automatic Labeling

Configure a site reference on a BACnet network port or Fox connection. All points discovered from that port or connection are automatically labeled with the site.

  • BACnet ports: set the site in Settings > BACnet > Network Ports
  • Fox connections: set the site in Settings > Fox Connections

Manual Assignment

In the Object Explorer, select one or more points and use the right-click menu to assign a site. You can also remove a site reference this way.

Filtering by Site

Most views in the management console can be filtered by site. Select one or more sites to show only points belonging to those sites.
